Stafford 22 – Camp Hill 15
Stafford welcomed Camp Hill to the county ground hoping to take the positives from last week’s result.
Stafford started the game by putting early pressure on their opponents. Callum Collins showing blistering speed to run past his opposite numbers and score the first try of the game, with the conversion narrowly being missed. The home side continued to probe at the visitor’s defence looking for any opportunity. They were rewarded with another outstanding try by Callum Collins as his pace proved too much for Camp Hill. The visitors responded well and forced their way back into the game with an unconverted try of their own to cut the deficit. A second converted try put the visitors in the lead just before half time.
Camp Hill started the second half strongly putting the Stafford defence under pressure for long periods. The continued onslaught earned the visitors a penalty, which they kicked to extend their lead. This spurred on the Stafford forwards who started to exert their dominance. Some superb counter rucking turned defence into attack and quick handling released Nathan White to score the home sides third try of the game and when the conversion was missed the scores were tied. Stafford continued to pressurise Camp Hill and were awarded a succession of penalties. The forwards earning their reward by driving Lawrence Hobbs over for the final try of the game and the first bonus point of the season. George Morrison successfully converting to give Stafford a convincing victory.
This moves the Colts up to third in the table and gives excellent encouragement for their next league game against Telford Hornets who are currently in second place.
