Sutton Coldfield arrived at the county ground for the league fixture with only 10 players. So it was agreed that Stafford would give Sutton 5 players and that the league points for the match would be awarded to the home team.
Stafford played some very open and flowing rugby and also dominated Sutton in the forwards. The players from Stafford who played for Sutton certainly made a difference in the forwards where Sutton were particularly weak. Stafford scored 4 tries in the first half to Suttons 1. The second half was a similar story with the Sutton side running out of steam towards the end of the game.
From a Stafford perspective all the players got a full match run out either for Stafford or Sutton. There was a return to playing for Finley Evans after his broken leg earlier in the season. Connor McCulloch scored a hattrick of tries as well as 4 conversions. Ben Dodd boosted his points tally for the season by slotting the final conversion of the game and Dan Cleaver scored his first try of the season even if it was against Stafford for the Sutton Coldfield side. On the down side there were injuries to Dan Poultney and Lucas Till which may keep them on the side lines for the next few weeks.
The final score was 50 – 12 to Stafford Colts with tries from Lucas Till (2), Alfie O’Brien, Connor McCulloch (3), Billy Jones, Archie Bent and Dan Cleaver
It was a good run out for the lads and a big thank you for the Colts that played for Sutton which allowed the game to take place, they were Dan Cleaver, Oliver Downe, Hugo Sutton, Finley Evans and Spencer Latham.
Keep working hard boys and see you all at training
