Stafford 40 – 19 Silhillians
Stafford Colts entertained Silhillians Rugby Club Clubs Colts team on Sunday afternoon. The visitors from Solihull play one league above Stafford but with Stafford challenging at the top of their league it promised to be a cracking game of rugby and a good test for Stafford.
The game certainly lived up to expectations with a good crowd well entertained with both teams playing good attacking rugby, Stafford started the game very quickly and scored 2 tries in the first 10 minutes through Will Hamplett and Dean Ainger, one converted by Josh Arnold. Silhillians immediately responded by putting Stafford under sustained pressure, getting one try back and coming close to another, Stafford held out and against the run of play on 27 minutes broke out of defence for captain and right winger Johnny Carr to score, Again converted by Arnold. 19- 7 at half time to Stafford.
The second half was fiercely contested in the forwards but Stafford were the first to score after a scum on the half way line lent to a blind side break by Scrum Half Ainger, good hands by Carr putting full back Mitch Averis over for a well worked try, Silhillians responded with a converted try but Averis scored his second try, Silhillians scored again but Stafford scored the final try of the game through Cal Jones, All 3 second half tries were converted by Cal heath to give Stafford a 40-19 Victory.
