Stafford Bulldogs 27 - 22 Rugeley 2nd
Stafford Bulldogs entertained Rugeley 2 in their final pre-season friendly. The visitors started the brighter and opened the scoring with a well-worked try. Stafford hit back after a fine solo run from Mitch Averis resulted in him going over for a try. Rugeley regained the lead with another try before some wonderful, silky running from Matt Smith completely bamboozled the opposition and resulted in another fine solo try. The Bulldogs began to dominate the second half and scored another two tries from Lee Skelton and Maciej Drywa. Maciej's try came from some sublime interplay between Steve Rowland and Rich Walklate which opened up the opposition defence. Unfortunately, Lee Skelton then suffered a serious injury and the game had to be stopped for a lengthy period of time. However, when it resumed, Rugeley scored a try to claw back the deficit. Harry Taylor then extended Stafford's lead before Rugeley scored with the last play of the game.
