Stafford 62 – Handsworth 12
Stafford development team welcomed Handsworth to the County Ground as they settled back into league action following last weeks friendly. The hosts were looking to get back into winning ways and improve their league position.
The game started with Stafford lending understrength Handsworth a couple of players to make the fixture into an even competition. The game started competitively with the visitors making the home side work hard for territory and possession. Stafford took the first try and although Handsworth played some good periods of rugby, they couldn’t contain an exuberant first half performance by the hosts as they ran in a flurry of scores.
The second half got even worse for the visitors as a very young Stafford side ran at them from every quarter of the pitch adding to the points total. The final result had been decided deep in the first half, but credit must go to Handsworth who shrugged off tired legs to keep a competitive game alive.
Scorers in this game were Matt Parton 3 tries, Callum Lennon 2 tries, Ross Newell 1 try, Mark Broomhall 1 try, Johnny Carr 1 try, Will Richards 1 try, Callum Heath 1 try and 6 conversions.
