Willenhall 10 – Stafford 25
Stafford development team made the short trip across to Willenhall for an anticipated clash. The team were full of optimism as they looked to continue their winning form this season.
Stafford started the game fast and a pick up and drive from Matt Parton saw the opening try of the game. The visitors continued to dominate and assaulted the home side from all corners of the pitch. The second try of the half was scored by Michael Gwynne as he found his way over in the corner. Stafford went into half time comfortably in the lead and controlling the play.
Willenhall started the 2nd half a transformed team and rattled the composed Stafford side. The momentum of the game turned and an unsettled quarter saw the home side stealing two tries and levelling the scores. Chris Newell took the lead back for the visitors through a solidly kicked penalty. This settled the travellers and Michael Gwynne took his second try of the afternoon as the back line threw the ball around the pitch, Chris Newell adding the conversion. The last try of the afternoon was created by Tom Larkin, who made the break and fed through to Dave Wain for the score, Chris Newell adding the conversion.
