Stafford 2’s hosted their counterparts from Bridgnorth last Saturday in a hastily arranged friendly at Castlefields, and both teams played their part in an entertaining game.
Stafford’s forwards dominated their youthful opponents from the outset and provided some well controlled ball for their backs to work with. Opportunities to score followed at regular intervals and most were taken by some heartening displays, notably by Sean Hunt and newcomer Chris Upshaw. Bridgnorth, to their credit, maintained total commitment throughout the game and were rewarded with 2 good tries when they ran the ball back at Stafford from deep in their own territory.
Overall a satisfactory performance from Ali Oxley’s team and a good platform from which to win their last merit table fixture soon.
