Stafford 32 – 0 Leek
Stafford development team welcomed Leek to the County Ground for the second league match of the year. Leek travelled with an unblemished record having previously won eight out eight.
Stafford got off to an incredible start scoring a try within moments of the kick off, Callum Hoy making the most of a loose ball and crossing the line, Josh Arnold adding the conversion. Then home side added to the lead with a penalty through the boot of Josh Arnold. Leek remained under pressure and couldn’t contain a rampaging Gaz Phillips as he broke through the defence, Sam Turton was following on in support to receive the ball which he ran in from 22 yard line for the2nd try of the afternoon, Josh Arnold adding the conversion.
The second half saw Stafford reduced to 14 players following an early red card. This didn’t disrupt the Stafford momentum as Sam Turton and Jonny Carr combined to pressurise Leek into losing the ball. Jonny Carr pounced on the loose ball and the subsequent pass saw Sam Turton taking his second try of the afternoon, Josh Arnold with the conversion. The last try of the game came through a Matt Smith and Sam Harbage combination breaking the visitors defence, culminating in a very clever off load to Mitch Averis who tore across the line. The final score of the game came via a Josh Arnold penalty to seal what was an emphatic victory for the home side.
