Stafford welcomed Tamworth to Blackberry Lane on what turned out to be an incredibly
sunny afternoon on the 4G pitch.
Stafford had reduced numbers this week so Tamworth generously leant 1 player each half to
Stafford to make up the numbers.

Stafford came out strong from the outset with some great team work which lead to a try
within the first 5 minutes for Sophia, the conversion just falling short of the posts. 5-0
The restart began with a great catch from Connie, who broke the line and ran half the pitch
before ably offloading to Tori who put the ball down under the uprights adding to the
scoreline just 2 minutes later. This time easily converted by Connie. 12-0
The restart again began excellently with the ball being fed to Freya, who had a great run and
scored. Unfortunately, this was disallowed as Stafford had a player taken into touch.
Stafford were very quick to regain control of the ball and Tori added to the score line. 17-0.
From the restart another great catch and run from Freya, before this time offloading to
Sophia who scored a lovely try, Connie converted. 24-0
In the closing minutes of the half, Jess, who was having her first run out as a Stafford player,
sped down the wing and scored bringing the half time score to 29-0.

The second half began with a new player from Tamworth joining Stafford.
Stafford were fired up and began the second half pretty much how they finished the first half.
A great run from Eleanor before a fab offload gave Tori her 3 rd try of the game, this time a
great conversion by Connie which almost cleared the fence. 36-0.
Stafford were working amazingly, in quite possibly the best show of teamwork we have seen
all season.
Following the restart, it was Eleanor’s turn to add to the scoresheet, after a powerful run
breaking through several players, before getting the ball over the touchline. Connie again
converted. 43-0.
The restart again was taken well with some excellent teamwork, great tackling and rucking
before an offload from Jess to Tori who popped the ball over the line, to bring the score line
to 48-0.
At this point the referee called in the coaches in accordance to RFU regulations regarding
points difference, discussions took place as to whether to stop the game, switch players
round, stopping our key players from scoring, and swapping one of our forwards player for a
backs player.
Tamworth decided that they would keep things the way they were and would carry on for the
final 15 minutes of the game.
The girls again restarted Tamworth had an excellent passage of play before Sophia got an
awesome interception and ran in for her 3 rd try of the game, giving her a hattrick, again
Connie converted. 55-0
There was more fabulous play with Peggy having a great run and powering through several
players before, unfortunately being brought down just short of the try line.
The last try of the game came from more fabulous play before Tori had a great run, however,
under new rules was not allowed to score a try, but some great support play meant the ball
was passed to Connie who scored bringing the final score to 60-0.
It is important to say that while the report does concentrate on the tries – they were coming
in thick and fast, the commitment and teamwork shown by the girls today was second to
none. There were some brilliant passages of play, showing that training is definitely paying
off.

The report really does not reflect how well all the girls played, however, a special mention to
Laila, who considering her short time playing the game really got stuck in and got herself
fully immersed into the whole game.
Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to mention every single player, although, everyone
deserves a huge well done as without each and every one of them the score line would not
have been what it was!
