Stafford Marvels and Telford Stags mixed ability rugby teams re-joined forces to travel down to Longlevens for a match against Gloucester Griffins. The players from the level seven clubs faced a tough test against a side coached by Terry Fanolua and facilitated through a premiership team, but travelled determined to give a good account of themselves.
The Marvels & Stags received a warm welcome from the Griffins and the match was played in a bruising but competitive way by both teams. There were some big hits and a line out which nearly functioned for most of the game. The Marvels & Stags tries came from Sean Yapp and Chris Irving and the game had to be called slightly early due to suspected broken ribs on the Griffins side.
Both teams are always looking for new players to strengthen their squads, we especially need experienced players of any age who can pass on their knowledge. The game facilitates anybody of any level and can be contact or none contact dependant on the individual. So if you want a competitive game or can bring your experience to a willing bunch of players then give Steve Walker a call at the club.
