Club Members Honoured for Outstanding Service to Staffordshire Rugby

Congratulations to David Ainge and Iain Rowlands!

At the recent Staffordshire Rugby Union Centenary Awards Dinner, two club members were honoured for their long and unselfish service to Staffordshire Rugby.

Huge congratulations to David Ainge and Iain Rowlands who were awarded, Staffordshire Rugby Union's 'Award of Outstanding Service to the County', as Staffordshire Rugby celebrated its Centenary Year, at a Dinner held at Stafford Rugby Club in March.

11 individuals from clubs across the County were nominated, and Andy Lewis, President of Stafford Rugby Club said, ‘’Our club is immensely proud that two of our Club Members were among the 11 who received this award’’.

David was recognised for his distinguished and exceptional contribution and service to Staffordshire Rugby Union. He has been a member of Stafford RUFC since 1970 and has held various positions, over the last 50 plus years, including club coach, Director of Rugby, Club Chairman and Club President! He served the County as President between 2000 and 2002.

Iain was recognised for his service to Staffordshire Rugby Union for his work with the Staffordshire County Schools Union and for the various roles he has undertaken representing the SRU. Iain is the longest serving non-officio member of the England Schools Union, having given 22 years distinguished service, and is the SRU representative on the England Rugby Football Schools Union Committee
